What is the Climate Like in Atakora?
Atakora has a much drier climate compared to the southern parts of Benin. The year is divided into three main seasons.
Rainy Season
The rainy season usually starts in May or June and lasts until September or October. During this time, the region receives most of its rainfall.
Harmattan Season
From October or November to February, the Harmattan season arrives. This brings cool, dry winds from the Sahara Desert. The air can be dusty and temperatures are cooler.
Hot Season
The hottest time of the year is from February to April. This period is sometimes called the "Famine season" because the dry conditions can make it hard for crops to grow.
How is Atakora Organized?
Atakora is divided into smaller areas called communes. These are like local districts or towns that help manage the region.

Changes to Atakora's Borders
