The Atelopus longirostris had a thin body and long legs. Male frogs had legs up to 35 millimeters long. Female frogs had even longer legs, up to 47 millimeters.
Its back (called the dorsum) was brown. It had round spots that were yellow or cream colored. The sides of its body were dark brown or black. The frog's belly (called the venter) was whitish. It had some brown color on its throat and chest.
