The Atlantic City Historical Museum is a cool place to learn about the past of Atlantic City, New Jersey. It's located inside the Atlantic City Experience at Boardwalk Hall. This museum first opened in 1985. It was started by Florence Miller, Vicki Gold Levi, and Anthony Kutschera. You can explore over 150 years of Atlantic City's exciting history here!

History of the Museum

The Atlantic City Historical Museum first opened its doors in 1985. Its original home was at the Garden Pier, right next to the Atlantic City Art Center. The museum showed off 150 years of the city's story.

You could see many old photos taken by Al Gold. He was Atlantic City's official photographer from 1939 to 1964. The museum also had a giant Mr. Peanut statue! There were posters from the city's "golden era." You could also find old items and watch a film about unique seaside resorts.

Since the Miss America pageant started at the Garden Pier, the museum also had many old Miss America dresses. It was a fun way to see how things used to be.

In March 2016, the museum's first home closed. The Garden Pier was sold to a developer from Philadelphia. But don't worry, the museum found a new home!

By 2019, the Atlantic City Historical Museum moved. The Atlantic City Art Center moved too. Both are now at the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall. They are now part of something called the Atlantic City Experience.
