Atlas (moon) facts for kids

Atlas photographed by Cassini-Huygens.
Atlas is a small moon that orbits the planet Saturn. It was found by scientist Richard Terrile in 1980. He discovered it by looking at pictures taken by the Voyager 1 spacecraft.
This moon was named after Atlas, a powerful figure in Greek mythology. Atlas orbits very close to Saturn, just outside its bright A ring.
