Atomu Tanaka (田中 亜土夢, Tanaka Atomu, born 4 October 1987), often called Atom, is a Japanese professional footballer. He plays as a midfielder for the Veikkausliiga club KTP in Finland.
Atom also played for Japan's national under-20 team. He scored one goal in three games at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada.

Playing for Football Clubs
Starting with Albirex Niigata
Atomu Tanaka went to Maebashi Ikuei High School. He played football for his school team. While still in high school, he was allowed to train and play with Albirex Niigata. This was a special rule for talented young players.
He played his first two league games for Albirex in 2005. His first game was on November 27, 2005. It was an away match against Nagoya Grampus Eight.
After finishing high school in 2006, he officially joined Albirex Niigata. His first game as a professional player was on March 5, 2006. He scored his first professional goal on April 8, 2006. This goal was in a league match against Ventforet Kofu.
Playing for HJK Helsinki
Atomu Tanaka moved to Finland to play for HJK Helsinki in 2015. He scored one goal in five matches during the 2015 Finnish League Cup. He also scored in his first Veikkausliiga game. HJK won that game 3–1 against RoPS.
In October 2015, HJK decided to keep Tanaka for the 2016 season. He was chosen as one of the best eleven players in the Finnish League in both 2015 and 2016. On October 25, 2017, it was announced that Tanaka would leave HJK. This happened at the end of the 2017 season.
Time with Cerezo Osaka
Atomu Tanaka played for Cerezo Osaka in Japan for the 2018 season.
Coming Back to HJK
On March 3, 2020, Tanaka returned to Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi. He signed a contract to play for them again.
During the 2023 season, Atom played his 200th match for HJK. On November 28, 2023, he signed a new contract with HJK for the 2024 season. This was his eighth season with the club. In December 2024, it was announced that Tanaka would leave HJK after the 2024 season.
Joining KTP
In January 2025, Tanaka signed with Kotkan Työväen Palloilijat (KTP). This club had just been promoted to the Veikkausliiga.
International Games
Tanaka played for the Japan U-20 international team. He took part in the 2006 AFC Youth Championship and the 2007 U-20 World Cup. He scored one goal in eight games for this team.
