Attilio Demaría was a famous football player. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on March 19, 1909. His full name was Atilio José Demaría. He was known as a striker, which means he played in a position to score goals.

Attilio Demaría played for football clubs in both Argentina and Italy. What makes him special is that he played for two different national teams! He represented Argentina in the 1930 World Cup. Later, he played for Italy in the 1934 World Cup. He reached the final in both tournaments and even won the World Cup with Italy in 1934. He passed away on November 11, 1990.

Playing for Clubs

Attilio Demaría started his football journey in Argentina. He played for clubs like Estudiantil Porteño and Gimnasia La Plata.

His career then took him to Italy. He became very well-known playing for Internazionale, also called Ambrosiana-Inter. He played 295 games for them between 1931 and 1943. During his time there, he scored 86 goals. He even became the team's captain from 1940 to 1943.

Besides Internazionale, he also played for other Italian teams. These included Novara, Legnano, and Cosenza. He also had a short return to Club Atlético Independiente in Argentina.

Playing for His Countries

Attilio Demaría had a unique international career. He first played for the Argentina national team. He played three games for them between 1930 and 1931. He was part of the team that reached the final of the 1930 World Cup, where they finished as runners-up.

Later, he joined the Italy national team. He played 13 games for Italy from 1932 to 1940, scoring three goals. He was a key player when Italy won the 1934 World Cup on their home ground. He also helped Italy win the 1933–35 Central European International Cup.

Life Outside the Field

Attilio Demaría had a younger brother named Félix Demaría. Félix was also a professional football player. He even played for Ambrosiana-Inter for one season. To tell them apart, Attilio was often called Demaría I and Félix was called Demaría II.

After his playing career, Attilio Demaría also worked as a football manager. He managed teams like Legnano, Cosenza, Gimnasia La Plata, Sportivo Italiano, and Almirante Brown. Attilio Demaría passed away in Haedo, Buenos Aires on November 11, 1990.
