After high school, he chose to play college basketball in his hometown at Wichita State University. After four years, the Chicago Bulls picked him in the second round of the 1985 NBA draft. High School Career

Aubrey Sherrod was born in Wichita, Kansas. He was the youngest of five brothers. When he was young, Aubrey grew very tall, very fast. In second grade, he was already much taller than other kids his age. His older brother, Avery, invited him to play basketball with his team of sixth-graders.

Aubrey went to Wichita Heights High School. He joined the varsity basketball team in his second year. His coach, Charles "Goose" Doughty, was a very important person in Aubrey's life. In his junior year, Aubrey scored an average of 24 points per game. He was known as a good defender and a smooth shooter.

In his final year at Wichita Heights, Aubrey averaged 27.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Many people thought he was one of the top two guards in the country, along with Michael Jordan. He was also considered one of the best players overall. During his high school career, he was chosen for the all-conference first team three times. He scored 1,735 points, which was the second-highest score in Wichita high school history at the time.

His senior year achievements included being named to the Parade All-America Second Team. He was also chosen as a McDonald's All-American. The 1981 McDonald's All-American Boys Game was played in his hometown of Wichita. In that game, Aubrey scored 19 points. He was named co-MVP of the game, sharing the award with Adrian Branch. He also played in another high school all-star game called the Capital Classic. There, he was the top scorer with 20 points and was named the game's MVP.

Professional Career

After college, Aubrey Sherrod was eligible for the NBA draft. In the 1985 draft, the Chicago Bulls picked him in the second round. He was the 34th player chosen overall. He joined the Bulls for their practice games before the season. However, in October 1985, he was "waived," which means the team decided to let him go. This happened just before the 1985–86 NBA season began. The Bulls already had a talented young shooting guard named Michael Jordan, who they had picked a year earlier.

After leaving the Bulls, Aubrey signed with the Kansas City Sizzlers in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He had an ankle injury, so he couldn't join the team until December 1985. In September 1986, he signed with the Seattle SuperSonics. But he did not make their final team roster for the 1986–87 NBA season. He then joined the Wyoming Wildcatters in the CBA. In 25 games with that team, he averaged 7.8 points, 1.0 rebound, and 2.3 assists. He shot 44% from the field and 36.7% from three-point range.

In 1989, Aubrey played one season in the Australian National Basketball League for the Geelong Supercats. There, he had strong averages of 22.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. He shot 46.6% from the field and 38.3% from three-point range.
