Augusto Pedro de Sousa, known as Augusto César or just Augusto, is a Brazilian football coach and former player. He was born on November 5, 1968. During his playing days, he was a versatile player, often playing as a left back (a defender on the side of the field) or a midfielder (a player who helps both attack and defense).

Augusto César's Playing Career
Augusto César started his football journey in Brasília, Brazil. When he was 19, a big club called Vasco da Gama noticed his talent. He played for them for a short time, including a loan spell at America-RJ in 1988.
Early Clubs and Success
After his time at Vasco da Gama, Augusto César played for clubs like Gama and Pires do Rio. In 1992, he joined Goiás, where he played for several years and became a key player.
Moving to Bigger Teams
In 1997, Augusto César moved to Portuguesa. He then joined Corinthians in July 1999, which is one of Brazil's biggest clubs. While at Corinthians, he didn't play as much as he had hoped. He was also loaned to Botafogo in 2000 and played for América Mineiro that same year.
Playing Abroad in Japan
In June 2001, Augusto César decided to play football outside Brazil. He signed with Kashima Antlers in Japan. He spent two seasons there before moving to another Japanese club, Kawasaki Frontale, where he played for three seasons. Playing in Japan was a big part of his career.
Returning to Brazil and Retirement
Augusto César came back to Brazil in 2006, joining Brasiliense. He later returned to his old club Gama in 2008. He also played for Paranoá and Brasília before he retired from playing in 2009, at the age of 40.
Augusto César's Coaching Career
After he stopped playing, Augusto César quickly started a new career as a football coach. He began coaching at his last club, Brasília, in 2009.
Coaching Youth and Senior Teams
He coached the under-20 (U20) team for Gama. In 2011, he became the main coach for Botafogo-DF. He later coached Gama's senior team in 2012.
Returning to Goiás as a Coach
On September 27, 2012, Augusto César went back to Goiás, a club where he had played for many years. This time, he was the manager of their under-20 team. He even had a short period as the interim (temporary) manager for the main Goiás team in 2015.
He left Goiás in early 2016 but returned in September 2017 to coach their under-20 squad again. He also had another short time as interim manager for the main team in 2018. On November 17, 2020, he was officially appointed as the main manager for Goiás. He continued coaching different clubs in Brazil in 2022 and 2023.
