The Austrosynthemis is a special group of dragonfly that belongs to the family Synthemistidae. This group is called "monotypic" because it only has one type of dragonfly in it.
That single species is called Austrosynthemis cyanitincta. You might know it better as the turquoise tigertail. This cool dragonfly lives in the south-western part of Australia. It loves to make its home near streams.
The turquoise tigertail is a small dragonfly. It has a black body with bright blue marks.
