Ava (also known as AVA) is a planned tall building for Seattle, Washington. It is called a "proposed" building because the plans have been shared, but construction has not started yet. This skyscraper is designed to be 48 stories high.

It is a mixed-use building, which means it will have different kinds of spaces inside. The plans include 395 homes (called residential units), 178 hotel rooms, and shops on the ground floor. There will also be underground parking for 375 cars. The Ava building is planned for the corner of Pine Street and 8th Avenue in Downtown Seattle.

The Idea Behind Ava

The idea for the Ava building first came up in 2007. The Fana Group of Companies suggested building a 39-story tower. This first plan was for a building that would be about 445 feet (136 meters) tall.

The design for the building was created by a company called Weber Thompson. The original plan was to have a fancy hotel on floors 10 through 17. Above the hotel, there would be 200 condominiums, which are like apartments that people own.

Why Was Construction Delayed?

The city of Seattle approved the project in 2008. However, construction did not begin as planned. This was because of a difficult economic time called the Great Recession. During this period, many building projects were put on hold. Developers waited for the economy to get better before starting new construction.

The original permit for the Ava project ran out in 2013. This meant that when the developers wanted to restart the project, they had to apply for new approvals from the city. The current plan for Ava is a new version of the original idea, now with more stories and units.]
