Building the Avenue

The construction of Avenida Bolívar started on July 25, 1945. It was officially opened to the public on December 31, 1949. This avenue was part of a huge city plan called "Plan Rotival."
This plan aimed to modernize Caracas. It included building new important structures. For example, it planned for a new Capital building. It also included a special place for Simón Bolívar, a hero of Venezuela.
