Avery's Story
Avery has a short but interesting history. A post office was opened here in 1879. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1903. The community of Avery was named after an early settler. His name was Jacob Avery, and he was one of the first people to live in this area.
