Avery Creek is a small community in Buncombe County, North Carolina, in the United States. It is called a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it's an area identified by the U.S. Census Bureau for statistical purposes. In 2020, about 2,241 people lived there. Avery Creek is also part of the larger Asheville area.
Geography
Avery Creek is located in the southern part of Buncombe County. The main road that goes through the community is North Carolina Highway 191. This road is also known as Brevard Road.
If you travel north on Highway 191, you will reach downtown Asheville in about 11 miles (18 km). If you go south, you will arrive in Hendersonville in about 13 miles (21 km).
Another important road is North Carolina Highway 146, or Long Shoals Road. This road goes east from Avery Creek. It leads to Interstate 26 in about 1.6 miles (2.6 km). Further east, about 3.5 miles (5.6 km) away, is the Skyland neighborhood of Asheville.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the Avery Creek area covers about 4.5 square kilometers (1.7 square miles). All of this area is land, with no water.
