In 2013, Aviâja represented women from the Arctic region. She spoke at a big meeting called the World Conference for Indigenous Women in Lima, Peru.

Two years later, she joined the board of the International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs (IWGIA). This group works to protect the rights of native peoples worldwide.
