Avraham "Avi" Duan (born October 17, 1955 – died September 22, 2018) was an Israeli politician. He was a member of the Knesset, which is like Israel's parliament. He represented the Kadima political party from 2012 to 2013.
Biography
Early Life and Education
Avi Duan grew up in the Ramat Amidar neighborhood of Ramat Gan, a city in Israel. He went to Bar Ilan University. There, he earned a master's degree in social work and community administration.
Working as a Social Worker
After his studies, Avi Duan worked as a social worker. He was part of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. He also managed centers that helped people find jobs. These centers were especially for Ethiopian immigrants in the cities of Ashdod and Rehovot.
Political Career
Avi Duan became involved in politics. In 2008, he led the campaign for Shaul Mofaz in the Kadima party leadership election.
He was listed as 33rd on the Kadima party's list for the 2009 Knesset elections. The Kadima party won 28 seats, so he did not enter the Knesset at that time. Later, he worked as a political advisor.
On January 25, 2012, Avi Duan became a member of the Knesset. He took the place of another politician who had resigned. Duan also managed Shaul Mofaz's campaign again for the Kadima leadership election in 2012.
He lost his seat in the 2013 elections. Avi Duan passed away on September 22, 2018.
