Avolar facts for kids
Avolar was a Mexican low-cost airline. This means it was an airline that tried to offer cheaper flights by keeping its costs low. Its main office and biggest flight hub (a central airport where many flights connect) were in Tijuana.
Avolar started flying on September 7, 2005, with just one Boeing 737-500 airplane. It was one of the first airlines in Mexico to offer low-cost flights. By 2008, Avolar had grown to have 10 Boeing 737 airplanes. It flew to 21 different cities all over Mexico.
In August 2008, Avolar had to stop its flights for three days. Then, in October 2008, it stopped flights for another day. This happened because the airline had a lot of money problems and owed a lot of money. Avolar tried to get permission to fly to the United States on October 28, 2008. However, on that very same day, October 28, 2008, Avolar stopped flying completely. The airline has not flown any flights since then.
