Ayaka Tanihara (谷原 絢香, Tanihara Ayaka) is a Japanese actress and former singer. She was born on October 30, 1981, with the name Ayaka Kimura (木村 絢香, Kimura Ayaka). Professionally, she is known as Ayaka Nagate (長手 絢香, Nagate Ayaka).
For about ten years, from 1999 to 2008, Ayaka was a member of a popular music project called Hello! Project. During this time, she was part of the girl group Coconuts Musume.

Career as a Singer and TV Personality
In 1999, Ayaka joined Hello! Project after being discovered by a musician named Makoto. She and four other girls formed the group Coconuts Musume.
Ayaka grew up in Hawaiʻi for part of her teen years and also went to English-speaking schools in Japan. Because of this, she can speak both Japanese and English fluently. She became well-known to fans outside of Japan for her TV show segment called "Ayaka's Surprise English Lessons." In this segment, she would surprise members of the famous group Morning Musume and test their English skills.
Becoming an Actress
On April 30, 2008, Ayaka decided to leave Coconuts Musume and Hello! Project. She wanted to focus on a new career in acting. The very next day, it was announced that she had joined a new company, Tristone Entertainment, and would use the stage name Ayaka Nagate.
Personal Life
On July 14, 2008, it was announced that Ayaka had married professional golfer Hideto Tanihara. They have two children together.
