Aydelotte is a small, unincorporated community in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, United States. An unincorporated community is a place where people live together but it's not officially governed as a city or town. Aydelotte is located in the central part of Oklahoma.

Where is Aydelotte Located?

Aydelotte is found in Pottawatomie County. It is situated north of a larger city called Shawnee. It is also just south of another community named Meeker. You can find Aydelotte along Oklahoma State Highway 18. This highway connects several towns in the area.

How Did Aydelotte Get Its Name?

The history of Aydelotte's name is quite interesting. When the Santa Fe Railroad first planned this community in 1903, they called it Hansmeyer. However, the name was later changed to Aydelotte. This new name was chosen to honor one of the railroad's employees, J.M. Aydelotte. Railroads often played a big role in naming towns as they expanded across the country.
