Aydın Aybay (1929 – 6 March 2013) was a Turkish professor, writer, and lawyer. He helped start important parts of Istanbul University and Maltepe University. He also helped create the Cumhuriyet Foundation.
Life Story
Aydın Aybay was born in Istanbul. He studied law at Istanbul University and finished in 1953. Right after graduating, he started working at the university. He became a research assistant in the civil law department.
In 1958, he earned his doctorate degree in law. He continued to teach and research at the university. By 1973, he became a full professor.
In 1979, Professor Aybay and his friends helped create the Faculty of Political Sciences at Istanbul University. This was an important step for the university.
After a change in government in 1980, Aydın Aybay and many other professors were removed from the university. They did not agree with the new government's actions. Later, in the 1990s, he returned to Istanbul University.
In 1996, he retired from public universities. He then started teaching at Maltepe University.
Aydın Aybay passed away on 6 March 2013 in Istanbul.
