Azucena Berrutti (born in 1929) is an important Uruguayan politician and a skilled lawyer. She served as the National Defence Minister for Uruguay. President Tabaré Vázquez chose her for this big role. She held this position from March 2005 until March 2008.
Azucena Berrutti: A Pioneer in Government
Azucena Berrutti took on the role of Minister of Defence in 2005. She was 75 years old at the time. This happened when Tabaré Vázquez became the President of Uruguay. It was a very special moment because she was the first woman ever to hold this important job in Uruguay.
