The Babozai Tehsil in the Swat Valley is located quite high up. It sits at an altitude of about 1,754 meters (5,757 feet) above sea level. A river called Gadar Khwar flows through this area.
Who Lives in Babozai?
The main group of people living in both the Babozai union council (in Mardan) and the Babozai Tehsil (in Swat) are from a tribe called the Babuzai. This tribe is a part of the larger Yousuf Zai Pashtun tribe.

The Babuzai tribe got its name from an ancestor named Babu. Babu and his sons were important in the history of the Yousufzai people. They helped settle the areas where the Babuzai union council and Tehsil are today.
