History of Bache
Early Days and the Post Office
Bache got its start a long time ago. A post office, which is where you send and receive mail, was opened here on February 26, 1903. This was when the area was known as Indian Territory, before Oklahoma became a state. The post office served the community for many years, but it eventually closed down on July 29, 1995.
How Bache Got Its Name
When Bache was first being settled, it was part of the Choctaw Nation. The Choctaw Nation is a Native American tribe that had its own lands and government in this area. The community was named after a person named Franklin Bache. He was a "mining operator," which means he was involved in running mines that dug up valuable materials from the ground.
