Bacon, Washington facts for kids
Bacon is a small, unincorporated community located in Grant County, in the state of Washington in the United States. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's usually managed by the county.
History
The community of Bacon got its start with a post office. This post office was opened in 1911. It helped people living in the area send and receive mail. However, the post office did not stay open for very long. It closed its doors just five years later, in 1916.
According to local stories, the name "Bacon" was chosen to be funny. It was meant to bring a smile to people's faces.
