Bader is a small place in Schuyler County, Illinois, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Bader is located about 3 miles (or 4.8 kilometers) north of a town called Browning.
History of Bader
Bader started way back in 1870. When it was first founded, it had a different name: Osceola.
How Bader Got Its Name
The community was later renamed after a man named William Bader. He owned and operated a grain elevator in the area. A grain elevator is a tall building used to store large amounts of grain, like corn or wheat, before it's shipped out.
The Post Office
A post office opened in Bader on October 8, 1872. At first, it was called "Baders." However, on December 23, 1907, the name was officially shortened to just "Bader."
