Balti Wine comes in different types, including three white wines and two red wines. To help people choose, each bottle has a "chilli rating." This rating tells you how well the wine pairs with spicy food, so you can pick the best one for your meal. The grapes used to make Balti Wine come all the way from Argentina.

By 2006, Balti Wine was becoming very popular. It was sold in many Indian restaurants, especially in places like the Curry Mile in Rusholme, England. The company also made deals to sell its wine in the United States and even on airlines like Gulf Air and cruise ships like P&O Cruises.

How Balti Wine Started

The idea for Balti Wine came from a clever businessman named Ashraf Sharif. He is a British Pakistani who lives in Manchester, England. He worked with the Food Technology department at the University of Manchester to create these wines.

Ashraf Sharif noticed that there wasn't a good wine specifically made to go with spicy South Asian foods. He saw this as a chance to create something new and useful for people who enjoy these dishes. So, in 2004, he launched Balti Wine and started selling it to Indian restaurants. His goal was to offer a perfect drink to match the rich and spicy flavors of their food.
