A Look at Its History
The Bangs Block was built in 1870 for a man named John Bangs. He used to run a dry goods store. A dry goods store sells things like fabric, clothing, and other household items. He moved his business into this new building.
Later, John's son, Adam Bangs, used the space for a meat market. Since then, the building has been home to many different kinds of shops and businesses. When the Bangs Block was built, the area was changing. It was becoming less residential and more focused on businesses. Before, there were many two-story homes. After, more shops and businesses started to appear.
