Barbara A. Humphreys was a Canadian architect and author. She was born in Saskatchewan, Canada. She was known for her work in public service, especially in saving old buildings and designing homes.
Life of Barbara Humphreys
Barbara Humphreys studied architecture at the University of Manitoba, graduating in 1941. After college, she worked for companies like Defence Industries Limited and Victory Aircraft Limited, where she helped design buildings.
In 1954, she started her own architecture business. Later, in 1969, she led an important project to study the old buildings along the Rideau Canal. This project helped start the Canadian Inventory of Historic Buildings, which is like a big list of important historical buildings in Canada. Barbara Humphreys was the founder and chief of this important organization. She retired in 1981.

Barbara Humphreys also wrote or helped write several books and reports about Canadian history and architecture. These books often focused on old buildings and how to protect them.
