Barry Corner is a small, quiet place in Wisconsin, United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and buildings that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of a larger area called the town of Pepin.

Discovering Barry Corner

Barry Corner is found in Pepin County. It's located where two county roads, Highway I and Highway CC, meet with a road called Bogus Road. This spot is about 6.7 miles (10.8 km) north of the village of Pepin.

What Barry Corner Looks Like Today

If you visit Barry Corner, you'll see a mix of things. On two sides of the intersection (the northeast and southwest), there are farmhouses where people live. The other two sides (the northwest and southeast) are open fields used for growing crops. It's a peaceful, rural area.

How Barry Corner Got Its Name

Barry Corner is named after a special person from the 1800s. Her name was Anna Barry, and she was a teacher. She taught at a one-room schoolhouse in the area. This schoolhouse became known as the Barry Corner School.

Where the Schoolhouse Was

The old schoolhouse site is on County Road I. It's less than a mile away from where County Highway CC and Bogus Road meet. Even though the school isn't there anymore, its history lives on in the name of this community.
