Bashi Channel facts for kids
The Bashi Channel is an important waterway located between Taiwan and the Philippines. It is part of the larger Luzon Strait in the vast Pacific Ocean. This channel sits right between Y'Ami Island in the Philippines and Orchid Island (which the Philippines calls Botel Tobago) in Taiwan.
Many important undersea cables run through the Bashi Channel. These cables help connect different parts of the world by carrying internet and phone signals. The channel is also very important for military activities, as it is a key route for ships and submarines. Both Taiwan and the Philippines believe this channel is part of their own territory.
