Calvary Baptist Church and Joseph Willis
On November 13, 1812, the Calvary Baptist Church was founded here. An important person named Joseph Willis became its pastor. He was an African American missionary. Joseph Willis had already been a preacher to different groups of people in the area. These groups included the Opelousa Indians. His work was very important in the early days of the church in this region.
