Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Beale is a small place located in Mason County, in the U.S. state of West Virginia. It is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town would.

History

The community of Beale once had its own post office. This post office first opened in the year 1902. It helped people send and receive mail in the area. However, it did not stay open for very long. The post office closed its doors in 1916. The name "Beale" comes from an important person in the area's past. The community was named after Colonel Charles Beale. He was one of the first people to settle and live in that part of West Virginia.
