Beattys Corner is a small place located in LaPorte County, Indiana, in the United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that do not have their own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it is usually managed by the county government.
History of Beattys Corner
The story of Beattys Corner began around 1833. A man named John Beatty and his business partner started a sawmill here. A sawmill is a factory where logs are cut into lumber, which is wood used for building.
Later, in 1842, Beattys Corner was officially "laid out" and platted. To plat a piece of land means to draw a detailed map of it. This map shows how the land is divided into lots, streets, and other areas. This step helps to organize how a community will grow. Historically, the place was sometimes called Beatty's Corners.
