Bedford, Missouri facts for kids
Bedford is a small, historic community located in the eastern part of Livingston County, Missouri, in the United States. Even though it's not a city or town with its own government, it's a recognized place with a past.
Where is Bedford Located?
Bedford is found in a pretty spot in Missouri. It's about four miles northeast of another community called Avalon, Missouri. You can reach Bedford by following Missouri Route J.
A big river called the Grand River flows right past the northern side of Bedford. Also, a special natural area, the Fountain Grove Conservation Area, is just two miles to the east. This means Bedford is close to nature and outdoor spaces.
A Look Back: Bedford's History
Bedford has been around for a long time! The community was first planned and settled way back in 1839.
Later, in 1858, a post office was opened in Bedford. This was an important place where people could send and receive letters and packages. The Bedford post office served the community for many years, until it finally closed its doors in 1931.
