Beerus, the God of Destruction (Japanese: 破壊神ビルス, Hepburn: Hakaishin Birusu) is a powerful character from the popular Dragon Ball series. He was created by Akira Toriyama. Beerus first appeared in the 2013 movie Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. He was the main villain in that movie. Later, he became a supporting character in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' and a main character in Dragon Ball Super.
Beerus is a god who looks like a purple cat. He wears special clothes and jewelry inspired by ancient Egypt. His job is to keep the universe balanced by destroying planets. This is the opposite of the Supreme Kais, who create and protect planets.
Beerus is incredibly strong. He can even destroy entire universes! He often destroys planets just because he feels like it. Beerus has two main interests: eating delicious food and finding strong fighters. His search for a powerful fighter called the Super Saiyan God leads him to Earth. There, he meets Goku. Goku, with help from other Saiyans, becomes the Super Saiyan God and fights Beerus. Even though Goku is strong, Beerus defeats him. However, Beerus enjoyed the fight so much that he spared Goku and Earth. He said Goku was the second strongest person he had ever fought. The strongest was his teacher and helper, Whis.
Who Voices Beerus?
Many talented actors bring Beerus to life. In Japan, Kōichi Yamadera provides Beerus's voice for all Dragon Ball shows and movies.
For English-speaking fans, Beerus has different voices. Jason Douglas voices Beerus in the Funimation English dub. This version is popular in many parts of the world. In Southeast Asia and India, John DeMita voices Beerus for the Bang Zoom! Entertainment English dub.
Beerus's Amazing Powers
Beerus has incredible powers. He can easily destroy planets and even entire universes. Here are some of his special moves:
- Sphere of Destruction: Beerus creates a small ball of energy that looks like a sun. He can make it grow very large before throwing it.
- Destruction before Creation: He surrounds himself with a bright energy glow. Then, he releases a powerful wave of energy.
- Hakai: This is Beerus's strongest technique. It means "Destruction." He can use it to completely erase anything in the universe. While Beerus is the first to show this power, all Gods of Destruction can use it.
