Bellair, Missouri facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Bellair is a small place in Cooper County, Missouri, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town would. Instead, it's part of the larger county. You can find Bellair along Missouri Route 5, about ten miles southwest of a bigger town called Boonville.

History of Bellair

Bellair was started a long time ago, in the 1840s. A person named T. P. Airbell founded the community. He decided to name the place after himself, which is how it got the name Bellair.

A post office was opened in Bellair in 1849. This was important for people to send and receive letters. In 1864, the post office's name was changed slightly to "Bell Air." However, the post office eventually closed down in 1906.
