Belmont is a small village located in the middle of Belmont County, Ohio, in the United States. In 2020, about 414 people lived there. It's also part of the larger Wheeling metropolitan area.

History of Belmont, Ohio
Belmont has an interesting past! It was first called Wrightstown when it was founded in 1808 by Joseph Wright. People hoped it would become the main town (county seat) of Belmont County, so they changed its name to Belmont.
However, another town, St. Clairsville, became the county seat instead. A long time ago, a railroad called the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad used to run through Belmont. It was taken apart in the 1980s.

Belmont is a small village, covering about 0.27 square miles of land. That's not very big!
It's located close to a fun place called Barkcamp State Park, which is only about a mile south. Belmont is also part of the old Drover's Trail, a historic path that goes through the hills and valleys of Belmont County.

The number of people living in Belmont has changed over the years. In 1880, there were 319 residents. The population grew steadily, reaching its highest point in 1980 with 714 people.
Since then, the population has decreased. In 2010, there were 453 people, and by 2020, it was 414. The most recent estimate for 2023 is about 404 people.
