Belmont, Roanoke, Virginia facts for kids
Belmont is a neighborhood located in Roanoke, Virginia. It's in the southeast part of the city. Belmont shares its borders with several other neighborhoods. To the north, you'll find Hollins and Williamson Road. To the south are Morningside and South Jefferson. Downtown is to the west, and Fallon is to the east. Today, a main road called Virginia State Route 24 (also known as Bullitt/Jamison Avenue) cuts through the neighborhood. Interstate 581 also runs along its western side.
Belmont's History
Belmont was first built to be a home for people working at the nearby Roanoke Shops. These shops were a big deal back then! Most of the houses and buildings in Belmont were constructed between the 1890s and the 1950s. This means many of the buildings you see today are quite old and have interesting stories.
