History of Bembridge
Long ago, Bembridge and another village called Yaverland were actually a small island! This mini-island was separate from the main Isle of Wight. A channel of water, known as Brading Haven, flowed between them.
Before Queen Victoria became queen of the United Kingdom, Bembridge was a very small place. It only had a few simple huts and farm houses. The village really started to grow after a church was built there in 1827. This church helped bring more people and buildings to the area.
