Benjamin David Gillies (born 24 October 1979) is an Australian musician. He is best known as the drummer for the famous Australian rock band Silverchair. He played with Silverchair from 1992 until the band took a break in 2011. Ben has also worked on other music projects. These include forming the band Tambalane and releasing his own solo music.

Ben Gillies was born on 24 October 1979 in Merewether. This is a suburb of Newcastle, Australia.
Starting with Silverchair
When he was 12 years old, Ben started a grunge band called Innocent Criminals. He formed it with his friends Daniel Johns, Chris Joannou, and Tobin Finnane. They played at school and other places in Newcastle.
In October 1994, the band changed its name to Silverchair. Their first song, "Tomorrow", quickly became a huge hit. It reached number one on the Australian music charts. Silverchair became one of Australia's most successful bands. They released five albums that all reached number one:

Other Music Projects
While Silverchair was taking a break, Ben started another band called Tambalane in 2002. They released an album with songs like "Little Miss Liar". Tambalane stopped playing together in 2005. After that, Ben returned to work with Silverchair.
In May 2011, Silverchair announced they would be taking a long break. Ben then started working on his own solo music. He released songs like "Breathe In, Breathe Out" in 2020. In 2021, he released "Yesteryear". This song was part of his five-song album called The Relative Relatives.
Ben's Family Life
In June 2010, Ben Gillies married Jakica 'Jackie' Ivancevic. His wife, known as Jackie Gillies, is a professional psychic. She also appeared on the TV show The Real Housewives of Melbourne.
In October 2021, Ben and Jackie became parents to twin babies. They welcomed their children after several attempts with IVF.
In 2023, Ben and Jackie competed together on the TV show The Amazing Race Australia.
