Ben Harney was born on August 29, 1952, in Brooklyn, New York. He is an American actor and dancer. He was most active in his career between 1972 and 1985.
Early Life and Education
Ben Harney grew up in New York. He went to The High School of Music & Art in Manhattan. This is a special school for students interested in arts. He graduated from there in 1970.
Starring in Dreamgirls
Ben Harney is well-known for his role in the Broadway musical Dreamgirls. In this show, he played a character named Curtis Taylor Jr. This character was inspired by a real music producer, Berry Gordy.
In 1982, Ben Harney won a big award for his acting. He received the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical. The Tony Awards celebrate the best shows and performances on Broadway. Winning a Tony is a huge honor in theater.
Working with Muppets
