Ben McDonald's Basketball Journey
Ben McDonald started his basketball journey in college. He then played in the NBA and other leagues around the world. After his playing days, he moved into coaching.
College Years
Ben McDonald played college basketball for the California-Irvine Anteaters. He was part of the team from 1980 to 1984. During his time there, he was recognized for his skills.
- In 1981, he was named the PCAA Freshman of the Year. This means he was the best first-year player in his conference.
- He was chosen for the First-team All-PCAA twice, in 1983 and 1984.
- He also made the Second-team All-PCAA in 1982. These awards show he was a top player in his college league.
Playing in the NBA
After college, Ben McDonald was chosen by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1984 NBA draft. He was the 50th player picked overall. He played one season for the Cavaliers.
Later, he joined the Golden State Warriors and played for them for three seasons. In total, he played 176 games in the NBA. He averaged 6.0 points per game during his NBA career.
