History of Bendena
Bendena was started in 1886. Its first name was Albers. This name came from John Albers, who owned a farm on this land.
However, the United States Postal Service needed the name to change. This was because other towns in Kansas had similar names. The new name, Bendena, was chosen for the girlfriend of the first telegraph operator. He worked at the Chicago, Kansas and Nebraska railroad station.

Where is Bendena?
Bendena is located in the southwest part of Doniphan County. It is found along Highway K-20.
The community is about 7 miles (11 km) southwest of Troy. Troy is the main town, or county seat, of Doniphan County. Bendena is also about 15 miles (24 km) north of Atchison.
