Early Life and High School Success
Benishe Dillard-Roberts grew up playing volleyball. She attended Kent-Meridian High School. There, she led her school's volleyball team to great success. Her team made it to the 4A state volleyball tournament three times in a row. They finished second in 1993 and third in 1994.
College Champion
After high school, Benishe continued her volleyball journey. She played at Long Beach State. In 1998, she helped her team achieve an amazing record. They won all 36 of their games! This incredible season led them to an NCAA volleyball championship. Benishe was recognized for her excellent play. She was named to the NCAA Final Four all-tournament team that year.
Playing for Team USA
After college, Benishe joined the U.S. National Volleyball Team. She played for the team from 1999 to 2001. She was even an alternate for the 2000 Olympic Games. This means she was ready to play if another player couldn't. While on the U.S. team, she took part in the 2001 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Grand Champions Cup.
Professional Career Highlights
Benishe also played professional volleyball. She played for the St. Louis Quest in the United States Professional Volleyball League. In 2002, she was named the league's Most Valuable Player (MVP). This is a huge honor for any athlete. She also played professionally in several other countries. These included Italy, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, and Spain.
