Benita Jones (born April 23, 1976) is an American gospel music singer, songwriter, and worship leader. She started her music journey in 2004. Her first album, Hold On, became very popular. It reached number 6 on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart.
Benita Jones has released five albums so far. Her latest album, "The Entreating", features her own praise and worship songs. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia, and serves as a worship pastor at her church.
Early Life and Musical Start
Benita Jones was born in Selma, Alabama, on April 23, 1976. She studied Voice Performance at the University of Alabama. In 2003, she won the Gospel Dream contest in Atlanta, Georgia. This win helped her start her solo music career.
Benita Jones's Music Career
Benita's music career officially began on July 13, 2004. She released her first album, Hold On, with Light Records. Her first single, "Thank You", was a big hit. It reached number 3 on the Hot Gospel Songs chart. The album also climbed to number 6 on the Gospel Albums chart. It was number 35 on the Independent Albums chart. She was even nominated for a Soul Train Lady Of Soul award.
Before becoming a solo artist, Benita sang backup for famous artists. She worked with CeCe Winans, Donnie McClurkin, and Juanita Bynum. She also toured nationally as a featured artist with CeCe Winans.
Her second album, Renaissance-Live in Nashville, came out in 2007. It reached number 17 on the Gospel Albums chart. Her third album, The Word Remains, was released in 2010.
In 2020, Benita released her fifth project, "The Entreating". This album was a partnership with Integrity Music and Tyscot Records. Benita also served as a Worship Leader for 15 years at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee.
