Berea is a small, quiet place located in Houston County, Texas, in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. In the year 2000, about 41 people lived there.

A Look Back in Time

Berea has been around for a long time, even before the year 1900! It started as a small settlement.

In the 1930s, Berea was a bit busier. It had two churches where people could gather. There were also several stores for shopping. A cemetery was part of the community, along with many scattered houses.

By the 1960s, things had changed. Only one church remained active. The cemetery was still there, and people continued to live in several houses. The population stayed small, with 41 residents recorded in 2000.

Where is Berea?

Berea is found in the eastern part of Houston County, Texas. You can find it where two roads meet: Texas State Highway 7 and Farm to Market Road 232. It's about 8 kilometers (5 miles) east of a larger town called Crockett.

Learning and Schools

Today, students living in Berea attend schools that are part of the Kennard Independent School District. This district helps make sure kids in the area get their education.
