Bernd Jakubowski (born December 10, 1952 – died July 25, 2007) was a talented football player from East Germany. He was a goalkeeper, which means he was the player who protected the goal. He is best known for his time playing for Dynamo Dresden and for winning an Olympic medal.

Playing Career Highlights
Bernd Jakubowski started his football journey with Hansa Rostock. He played there during his youth and early professional years. In 1970, he made a big move to Dynamo Dresden, which was a very important club in East German football. He spent the rest of his playing career with Dynamo Dresden.
Becoming a Top Goalkeeper
When Jakubowski first joined Dynamo Dresden, he was a reserve goalkeeper. This means he was a backup player. He learned a lot from the main goalkeeper, Claus Boden. Over time, Bernd Jakubowski worked hard and became the team's number one goalkeeper. He played in many important games for Dynamo Dresden. He appeared in 183 matches in the DDR-Oberliga, which was the top football league in East Germany. He also played in 31 games in European competitions.
A Tough Match in Europe
One of the most challenging moments in Jakubowski's career happened during a Cup Winners' Cup match. His team, Dynamo Dresden, was playing against Bayer Uerdingen from West Germany. During the game, Bernd Jakubowski got injured. He had to leave the field, and another player took his place. Unfortunately, Dynamo Dresden lost the game after his injury.
Olympic Success
Bernd Jakubowski also had the honor of representing his country. He was part of the East German team at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. Even though he wasn't the main goalkeeper for every game, he played one match during the group stage. His team performed very well and won a silver medal in football at the Olympics. This was a huge achievement for him and his country.
Life After Football
After he stopped playing professional football, Bernd Jakubowski stayed involved with Dynamo Dresden. He took on different roles to help the club. He worked as a Director of Football, helping to manage the team and its players. He also served as an Assistant Manager, helping the main coach. Bernd Jakubowski passed away in 2007 in Dresden, the city where he spent most of his football career.
