The club started on November 17, 1905, and was first called FC Uerdingen 05. Over the years, the club changed its name a few times. In 1985, they achieved a big win by taking home the German Cup! The very next year, they made it to the semi-finals of a European competition called the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. In 1988, they also won the German Indoor Cup.
Later, in 1995, the club faced some challenges when their main sponsor, Bayer AG, stopped supporting them. This caused some money problems. Because of this, they moved down to lower leagues. They are currently playing in the NRW-Liga.
