The Besòs River is a river in Catalonia, Spain. It starts where the Mogent and Congost rivers meet. The Besòs then flows into the Mediterranean Sea.
This river passes through many important cities. These include Granollers, Mollet del Vallès, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Barcelona, and Sant Adrià de Besòs. Because of the Mediterranean climate, the amount of water in the river can change a lot. It depends on how much rain falls.

History of the Besòs River
The Besòs River was not used for boats. However, it was an important link between the coast and inland areas of Catalonia. Around the 10th century, a special channel called the Rec Comtal was built. This channel used water from the river to help water crops.
Cleaning Up the Besòs River
The Besòs River flows through a very industrial area near Barcelona. Because of this, it became one of the most polluted rivers in Europe. This happened during the 1970s and 1980s.
But things have changed! Since the mid-1990s, people have worked hard to clean up the river. It is now much healthier.
The Besòs River Park
In 2004, a big event called the Fòrum Universal de les Cultures took place in Barcelona. This event helped create a fun new area along the river. It's called the Parc Fluvial del Besòs. This park is a great place for people to relax and enjoy nature. It is located between the cities of Barcelona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, and Sant Adrià del Besòs.
