The Beth Eden Chapel is a special old church in Brooklin, Maine. It was built way back in 1900. This church was the first one built in the Naskeag Point area. Even though a Methodist group built it, the church was open for all Christian groups to use. It's so important that it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. This means it's a building worth protecting because of its history.

What Does Beth Eden Chapel Look Like?
The Beth Eden Chapel is a simple, one-story building. It is made of wood and has a pointed roof, which is called a gable roof. The outside walls are covered with two types of siding: clapboard and shingles. It sits on a strong foundation made of granite stone.
Special Features of the Church
A square tower sticks out from the front right side of the church. This tower holds the main entrance. It also has a belfry, which is where a bell would be. The front of the church, under the pointed roof, and the middle part of the tower have cool designs. They both feature a decorative diamond shape. The siding also flares out a bit, which means it widens slightly.
The top part of the tower, where the belfry is, has wavy-cut shingles. This gives it a unique look. The tower is topped with a pyramid-shaped roof and a small decoration called a finial. The corners of the building have flat, column-like decorations called pilasters. The sides of the church have three windows each, all spaced evenly. Inside, the main worship area has a curved ceiling made of plaster.
The History of Beth Eden Chapel
The Beth Eden Chapel was built in 1900. The land for the church was bought by a local Methodist group in 1884. Some old papers suggest there might have been a building on the land before. It's not clear if any part of that older building is still part of the chapel today.
The church was officially opened in December 1900. It was meant to be used by any Christian group, not just the Methodists. The Beth Eden Chapel is one of three historic churches in Brooklin. It stands out because it's the only one with a special style called Late Victorian architecture. This style was popular around the late 1800s and early 1900s.
