The Beth Eden Chapel is an old and important church located in Brooklin, Maine. It stands near the meeting point of Naskeag Point Road and Stubbs Drive. This church was built in 1900 and was the very first church in the Naskeag Point area.
Even though a Methodist group built it, the chapel was open for all Christian groups to use. Because of its history and unique style, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. This list includes places that are important to American history.

What Does Beth Eden Chapel Look Like?
The Beth Eden Chapel is a simple, one-story building made of wood. It has a pointed roof and its outer walls are covered with both flat boards (clapboard) and shaped wooden tiles (shingles). The church sits on a strong foundation made of granite stone.
Unique Features of the Chapel
A square tower sticks out from the front right side of the church. This tower holds the main entrance and a bell. The front part of the roof and the middle section of the tower have similar designs. They both feature a cool diamond shape and the siding flares out a bit.
The top part of the tower is where the bell is kept. It's decorated with wavy-cut shingles, which look very artistic. A pointed roof sits on top of the tower, ending with a small decoration called a finial. The corners of the church have decorative pillars, known as pilasters.
Inside the Chapel
On the sides of the building, there are three windows evenly spaced out. Inside the church, the main room where people gather is called the sanctuary. It has a special ceiling that curves upwards, known as a coved plaster ceiling.
The Chapel's History
The Beth Eden Chapel was built in 1900. The land it stands on was bought by the local Methodist church leaders in 1884. Old documents suggest there might have been another building on the land before. It's not clear if any part of that older building is still part of the chapel today.
Open to All Faiths
The church was officially opened in December 1900. It was meant to be used by any Christian group, showing a spirit of openness. The Beth Eden Chapel is one of three historic churches in Brooklin. It stands out because it's the only one with a special Late Victorian style of architecture.
