The Bethel Baptist Church was an old church building in Gresham, Oregon. It was also known by other names like First Baptist Church and Gresham Pioneer Church. This historic building was once listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which is a special list of important historical places in the United States.
The church was built in 1886 by Peter Engles. It was designed in a style called Gothic Revival architecture. This style makes buildings look like the grand old churches from Europe, often with pointed arches and tall windows. The church was made from brick and wood siding called weatherboard.
The Bethel Baptist Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 because of its historical importance. Sadly, the church building was destroyed in a fire on May 22, 2004. Because of this, it was removed from the National Register of Historic Places on April 18, 2006.
